Berlins Gay Pride: sex, fun & politics
Without doubt, Berlin is not only capital but also gay-lesbian capital of Germany. Highlights on the agenda are definitely Gay Pride and Pride Festival with a large streetfair in and around Motzstraße in Berlin-Schöneberg and last but not least the fetish specials.
Pride and party
This year the Berlin Gay Pride was taking place for the 32nd time. It began with a small demonstration of a few hundred participants in 1979 – ten years after the legendary uprising of gays, lesbians and transgenders against the police raids in New York – and meanwhile has become an event with hundreds of thousands attending. The community and its guests from all over the world present themselves self confident. Leading up to the parade are traditionally various events like the Swing music night Gay Pride at the Zoo or the CSD on the river Spree with a boat for ladies only. After the pride in July there is the small lesbian gay tournament Come Together Cup.
